Vrugteboom International B.V. supports UNICEF in building classrooms in Côte d’Ivoire
For more information:
Vrugteboom provides practical support for UNICEF’s mission to help children in Côte d’Ivoire attend school. By recycling plastic – used to create bricks to build classrooms– the company supports UNICEF’s educational projects. Through this partnership, the company joins the so-called “UNICEF Business Buddie platform”, a concept that connects companies with the work of UNICEF.
The partnership is a logical step for Vrugteboom.
‘We are a business which is active in two country’s on the African continent and we always had the ambition to do something meaningful to support the people. But being a commercial organisation, that is difficult to organise for us on a small scale.
By cooperating with UNICEF, we join a large professional organisation that provides assistance to children on a global scale.
The project ‘Plastic Bricks’ not only stimulates education in Côte d’Ivoire, but also works towards a cleaner environment. Côte d’Ivoire namely suffers from a huge litter problem. The country’s capital Abidjan alone produces 288.000 kilos of plastic every day. UNICEF has some of this plastic recycled into plastic building bricks, which are in turn used to build classrooms. Currently, 1.6 million children in Côte d’Ivoire are not able to attend school. With a little bit of help from Vrugteboom, more children can!
